Greely Expedition: Day 63

Day 63: Wednesday, September 7th, 1881

Weather cloudy. At 9:30am a party consisting of the Commanding Officer, Lt. Kislingbury, Sgts. Ralston, Brainard, and Eskimo with a dog team started for the Bellows Valley. A second party consisting of Pvts. Schneider, Ellis, Bederbeck, and Henry started about the same time for Cape Murchison, with a supply of stores of provisions for a depot at that place. They carried the stores on an improvised truck made from the wheels of the tricycles.

Corpl. Ellison suffering very severely from a bad tooth, he has not had any rest now for several days.

We are beginning to notice the increasing darkness. There being quite an appreciable different now between day and night.
