Greely Expedition: Day 7

Day 7: Wednesday, July 13th, 1881

Foggy weather, cold and disagreeable. Numerous whales in sight. We tried very patiently today to get an observation of the Sun, but without success. Our position by dead-reckoning brings us on the “Torske Banks” a very few miles from the Coast (near the settlement of Fischkenules) and our captain is anxious as there is no prospect of the fog lifting.
