International cable between Paris and Rome

September 10, 1945: International cable between Paris and Rome

High in the Maritime Alps, a US Army Signalman swings over old German defense positions while clipping part of the last link of the international cable between Paris and Rome to an overhead guide line.  This section of the cable replaced an older section between Modane, France, and Susa, Italy, which had been blown up by retreating German armies.
