New (Old) Photos of Camp Little Silver

Sometimes the historian happens on new (to them) documents that help fill in more details about a subject with which we’re already familiar. I stumbled upon the Bain Collection from the Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division that gives new insight into the earliest days of Fort Monmouth — Camp Little Silver at the time.

While none of the photographs are labeled as “Camp Little Silver,”  the labels that do exist, such as “Signal Corps Camp” and “Monmouth Park” help identify the subject. When compared to other existing early photographs in the CECOM archive, it is clear that they’re all of the same place.

I hope you enjoy this look at the activities, both official and not, that filled the days of those first soldiers.
